In school we use a platform called ‘Accelerated Reader’ to assess children’s progress in reading. Your child will be assessed to find their reading level shortly after finishing the RWI program. These levels range from zero up to 6+. Our library is carefully organised so children can easily access the correct level book.
When your child has finished reading their book, they can ‘quiz’ on their book in school using the Accelerated Reader APP. Children enjoy seeing their word-count grow and keeping a note of how many quizzes they have taken. In school, we give prizes to award commitment and progress.
Accelerated Reader Awards
Word millionaires receive a £10 book voucher.
If a child reads 2 million words they will receive a £20 book voucher.
If a child reads 3 million words they will receive a £20 book voucher and a book chosen by the Headteacher.
If a child reads 4 million words they will receive a special prize.
